Reconnaissance Report: Lonstra System

The Castellum; Perugia, Umbria

Alpha-24x Viper

Classification: Secret

Date Compiled: 29.09.31148

To: Praetor Volesus Taurus, CNC 1st Umbrian Expeditionary Force

Praetor,

On 24.09 at 14:05 UMT, advanced elements of the First Fleet arrived in the Lonstra system and immediately began reconnaissance operations. Initial sensor readings showed negative for enemy activity, and a deeper survey of the space surrounding Battipaglia was begun.

Spearheading the efforts was the URN Caelestis, a Nascovo-class fleet carrier. This ship was joined by an escort of six frigates and two light cruisers. The captain of the Caelestis organized her force and began a methodical grid sweep of the system, leveraging her flight groups to speed up their search.

No signals or visual sightings were reported, and the reconnaissance detachment confirmed that there was no sign of Umbrian activity either. There were a few scattered signatures of unknown origin which were detected at various points in the survey of the system, but these were unsubstantiated and have been written off to inexperience and user error on the part of the crews.

After completing their pass through the system, the carrier spent six hours in geosynchronous orbit above the ruins of Battipaglia Prime. The task force was able to confirm the findings of the Reaction Force response to the initial distress signal, and further verified that the situation on the ground appears to be unchanged from the last observed survey of the planet.

While this occurred, the First Fleet’s ships deployed numerous low orbit satellites to monitor for signs of enemy activity and provide rudimentary surveillance and communications infrastructure as the army group begins its approach and establishes its forward operations.

With these tasks complete, and having confirmed that there was no sign of the enemy, the Caelestis and her escorts have taken up a position on the edges of the system and await the arrival of the remainder of the First and Third Fleets.
