Triumvir Decius,

My name is Titus Calpurnius, and I currently serve as a Prefect in the Reaction Force. I understand that it is highly irregular that I reach out to you directly sir, but there is a matter that I must bring to your attention, one that would never be properly socialized by following the chain of command.

Magistrate Genicius is lying about the attack on Battipaglia and his response.

The initial series of events unfolded as reported: the colony ceased communication and a team was dispatched to repair what was believed to be mechanical issues.

These seemingly innocuous events are designed to hide a critical detail; we received a garbled communication from the colony before the engineers were sent. While the overall message was indecipherable, we were able to pull some details, including the phrase "Contact Code Six Gamma Twenty-Two Omega."

We both know what that contingency was planned for, and that the commander on the ground would only have used it in the most dire of circumstances.

After arriving on the planet, the engineers on the ground were able to pass a clean copy of the transmission back to headquarters. They gave their lives so that we could have a clear understanding of what had happened to the colony and the nature of its attackers.

Magistrate Genucius chose to bury this information in his own vain attempts to bolster both his and the RF's image. He ordered Prefect Festus and I to reclaim the planet anyway. All attempts to protest this decision were met with indifference and belligerence.

The fate of Festus and his soldiers was sealed the moment we left Tratirne.

After the expedition went sideways, the Magistrate clipped a brief portion of the message the engineers transmitted which obscured the situation but gave the pretense for intervention. He then ordered all remaining copies of the recording to be erased.

I understand that the accusations I've leveled against my superior officer are severe, but I assure you that they are true. Attached you'll find a copy of the logs detailing when each transmission was received, and a complete copy of the message sent from Battipaglia. I was able to covertly download both prior to the archive's purge.

Two thousand brave souls died as a direct result of this man's insatiable ego. This cannot be allowed to stand. Opiter must answer for his actions.

Please Triumvir, help me. There is no one else who can.

Respectfully Yours,

Prefect Titus Calpurnius
