The War Council

The War Council is a body of senior military leaders who are responsible for advising the Senate and the Triumvirate on military matters. Originally consisting of ten people, the Council is made up of the Magistrates of the Army and Navy, the army group commanders, or Praetors, and various other administrators responsible for ensuring that the military is well equipped, trained, and ready to face the Republic's adversaries.

The Council is responsible for regular briefings with the Triumvirs and with the Senate's Armed services Committee. These sessions are usually presented by one or two members on a rotational basis and as need dictates, to ensure that he most important and time sensitive information can be shared and digested without undue pressures on the politicians' time.

All members of the War Council are assigned to their specific role by the Senate, with no fixed time limits on their terms. Turnover does occasionally occur, especially during times of significant change in the Republic's policy, but both the Senate and the Triumvirate see the value in steady and experienced advice, limiting political pressure to meddle with the Council's composition.

The organization itself does not contain any specific hierarchy or rank structure. Instead, it relies on broad consensus to form its advice. This ensures that decisions are only made after sufficient supporting evidence has been gathered and that those decisions are reached in a consultative way.

However, this can add additional time and effort to the decision-making cycle, slowing the pace of deliberation and execution. This can be dangerous in times of war, where quick and decisive action may be required.
