Skiere-Class Light Carrier
Initially developed in the 31130's, the Skiere-Class was amongst the oldest active warships still in service at the outbreak of the Ascomanni War. Its design and construction coincided with a sudden and unexpected threat to the Navy's primacy: the rise of the Frontier Reaction Force. While the two organizations' missions were different, the ambitious leadership of the RF was seen as a threat to the Navy's long term relevance, and this would lead to a rethink of the URN's requirements for new warships.
Arago-Class Light Cruiser
The Arago-class was the URN's pre-war ideal for a naval warship. As the Frontier expanded, the Navy realized that its existing warships were poorly suited for patrolling the vast spaces of the Umbrian Republic. Featuring moderate armament and extended endurance, it was perfectly suited for its primary function of patrolling the vast swaths of open space between the Republic's far flung colonies.
Tellare-Class Destroyer
The Tellare-Class destroyer is a flexible, medium sized warship that makes up a large portion of the Republic Navy's overall ship strength. With quick acceleration, a solid sensor package, and good offensive armament, the Tellares proved to be indispensable to the hard pressed URN fleets.
Gadira-Class Frigate
The Gadira-class frigate is a purpose built defensive warship designed to screen the fleet from enemy fighter craft and inbound munitions. As such, it places a much higher degree of emphasis on an expanded sensor suite, point defense weaponry, and defensive missile packages. This in turn means that it is poorly equipped for ship to ship combat, lacking sufficient armor or punching power to take on enemy warships.
Pasaldo-Class Corvette
The Pasaldo-class was a model of small warships, or corvettes, which saw extensive service with the Umbrian Republic Navy and the Frontier Reaction Force in the run up to and through the early parts of the Ascomanni War. It featured high endurance and a strong armament for a vessel its size, and would be produced in large numbers, with construction of new hulls continuing even to the present.
Nagroc-Class Freighter
A relative newcomer to the trade fleets plying the star lanes between the Republic's scattered colonies, the Nagroc class would prove to be a huge commercial success, elevating its manufacturer, Independent Shipyards, Inc., from industry laggard to an important player in Umbria's shipping industry.
