Missiles
While the Umbrian Republic Navy utilizes railguns for both point defense and ship to ship engagements, they supplement these weapons with extensive missile armament on most warships. Housed in vertical launch tubes buried in the outer hull of the vessels themselves, small frontline warships may carry hundreds of these munitions, while the largest battleships are equipped with thousands.
Legionary Organization
The basic formation of the Umbrian Republic Army, the legion is a unit of ten thousand soldiers which is considered large enough to allow for independent tasking and assignment. A legion's equipment will vary based on the type of legion and its specific mission parameters. It may also be augmented with independent sub-units which provide specific support functionality.

The first thing an Archus commanding their fleet needed to consider was the features of the battlespace which he or she would fight in. Gravitational fields, surrounding astronomical features, and even space weather could all influence the outcome of a battle. Once the field of battle was chosen, the course of events generally followed a similar pattern.
Armored Vehicles
The Umbrian Republic Army has a long tradition of using vehicles to enhance the mobility and firepower of the Republic's legions. The traditional legionary structure is highly dependent on light infantry, and these armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles are vital to providing them with the maneuverability necessary to fight in the varied terrain types and environments they may encounter.

The small size of the Republic's peacetime armed forces ensured that there was no megalithic military-industrial complex made up of corporations whose primary outputs were composed of military hardware and equipment. Instead, many specialized subsidiaries of larger manufacturers or software companies vied for Army and Navy contracts. Ursal Defense Industries, known more commonly as Ursal Defense, or UDI, was amongst those firms.
