The most technically sophisticated and most powerful warship ever produced by the Umbrian Republic, the colossal Doramine-Class supercarrier is the culmination of years of development which incorporated the hard learned lessons from first contact with the dreaded Ascomanni.

Featuring an armor scheme comparable to the Republic's battleships, and the capability to carry an entire fleet's worth of starfighters, the Doramines are designed to do one thing - turn the tide of the war in space.

Work had already begun on the Republic's next generation of capital ship by the time the war had commenced, with the Umbrian Republic Navy looking to develop even larger and more powerful warships to replace the Corsialto-class battleships and supplement the newer Nascovo-class fleet carriers. This effort was only in its infancy when the Battle of Battipaglia began, and the design that ultimately became the Doramine-class would go through numerous revisions.

Lessons would be incorporated from the Nascovo-class's early combat performance. The double spars that made up the supercarrier's forward hull would be lengthened and widened to accommodate additional supports and heavier armor. The class would also benefit from the knowledge gained in spacecraft handling, resulting in stronger internal bulkheads and improved damage control capabilities.

It was also realized that the fleet carriers were too lightly armed to serve in the battlespace dominance role. While the Doramine-class retained a hundred medium caliber double railgun turrets, its primary armament was the same as the Teorza-class battlecruisers: massive three hundred and five millimeter railguns in twenty-eight triple turrets.

Given the size and complexity of the class, construction was begun on the maiden vessel before the designs had been finalized. Multiple changes would be made to the initial ship of the class, the URN Minerva, as the Umbrian Republic Navy sought to squeeze as many new advancements as possible into the spaceframe. When the vessel finally launched in 31152, it was the largest and most expensive warship ever produced.

The vessel's builder, Consolidated Shipyards, was quick to adapt their manufacturing processes to increase the speed and efficiency at which the gigantic ships could be produced. Even so, it would take the better part of a year for their largest yards to assemble the ship from the keel up, and the demand for other warships prohibited too many resources from being allocated to supercarrier construction.

Despite this, the Minerva would quickly prove her worth. She would be the first carrier to be equipped exclusively with the new Natrix multi-role strike fighter, and a host of other improvements would demonstrate their added lethality.

After three months of shakedowns and readiness trials, the supercarrier joined the First Fleet as flagship. When it first saw combat, the Minnie, as she was affectionately known to her crew, would chalk up two confirmed kills on Ascomanni battleships, proving that the Doramine-class is capable of going toe to toe with the Ascomanni's largest warships.
